The Modul AL L moving head cross-cut saw has been designed to replace large blades and deliver precise, high-quality cutting. The machine performs cuts using two small, independent, and opposing blades. For cutting heights up to the maximum capacity (275÷550 mm), both saw blades are engaged. For profile heights less than half the maximum (30÷275 mm), the cut is performed exclusively with the lower blade.
Each blade is powered by an independent motor.
The saw carriages move horizontally on ball bearings along automatically lubricated, high-precision hardened guides. During operation, the profile is securely clamped to the work surface using two independent, pneumatically controlled pressure beams with adjustable force. For irregularly shaped extrusions, the pressure beam features a thick rubber surface that conforms to the shape of the piece.
The cutting axis of our Modul AL L features a robust, welded, and normalized steel profile structure. This structure, positioned like a bridge over the machine's work surface, supports two blade carriages (one for the upper cut and one for the lower cut). The carriages move in unison but are offset from each other, using recirculating ball bearings (grease-lubricated) on high-precision hardened guides. This configuration ensures perfect movement repeatability and long-lasting durability.
The cutting axis is composed of a crossbar with two sets of guides, one upper and one lower, each carrying a blade carriage.
The tools are inserted vertically, and their movement is controlled by cylinders powered by two hydraulic power units. Each cutting unit comprises a motor that transmits motion via a belt to a blade holder spindle equipped with its own chip recovery conveyor. Each blade operates independently, enabling cuts on two portions of material simultaneously, resulting in increased speed and improved cutting quality. The movement of the blade carriage is achieved through a rack-and-pinion transmission driven by a brushless motor with a gearbox.
Two independent pressure beams, positioned before and after the cutting area, are controlled by brushless motors with electronically adjustable working torque. These ensure perfect clamping of the material on the work surface during cutting operations, protecting even the most delicate profiles from damage. Each pressure beam moves vertically along two hardened shanks with recirculating ball bushes. A gear-and-rack coupling guarantees precise parallel alignment between the pressure beam and the work surface under all operating conditions.
The THIRD BLADE mounted on the lower saw blade cutting unit (15÷24 kW motor, Ø 550 mm blade) is equipped with electronic adjustment to control its protrusion from the work surface, adapting precisely to the thickness of the aluminum profile being sectioned.
